Montblanc High Artistry The World of Cinema Limited Edition 10

Emerging in France in late 1950s and early 1960s, the Nouvelle Vague or “New wave” was a significant movement in cinema, characterized by a group of young filmmakers who rejected traditional techniques and narratives of Hollywood films and embraced a more spontaneous, experimental approach to the artform. The Montblanc High Artistry The World of Cinema Limited Edition 10 interprets this film aesthetics by mirroring some of the key characteristics of the Nouvelle Vague style in its design: unconventional storytelling, use of jump cuts and improvised dialogue. The genre’s hall mark unconventionality is expressed through the distinct color code and the setting of film rolls and other film elements on the writing instrument. Crafted from solid Au 750 gold and coated with black PVD and in part with ruthenium, the cap and barrel masterfully recreate the look of Nouvelle Vague through diamond-framed smoky quartz inlays with 3D engraving and an artful, shimmering motif on the solid Au 750 gold surface below. The engraving and color of the stone inlays and the background pay particular tribute to the soft sepia tone of the films. A zoetrope, an old pre-film animation device, has been built on the cap of the writing instrument producing an illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of still images in rapid succession through a spinning cylinder with vertical slits. The moving image that the viewer sees here is a rising Montblanc emblem. The ruthenium-coated solid Au 750 gold cone is partly set with brilliant cut diamonds, its striped pattern paying homage to the film end is adorned with white chalcedony. The handcrafted, ruthenium and partially rhodium-coated solid Au 750 gold nib is embossed with a vintage camera, while the clip made of ruthenium-coated solid Au 750 gold and partly adorned with diamonds resembles the reels of a classic film projector.

Based on the shape of the Meisterstück 149 fountain pen, the Montblanc High Artistry The World of Cinema Limited Edition 333 is a journey into the fascinating and colorful universe of animated films.
