For the fifth chapter of the SR Explorer project, Stefano Ricci embarks on a journey to Cambodia—a land where sacred heritage and raw nature coexist in poetic harmony. From the serene dawn at Beng Mealea to the mystical nightfall at Preah Khan, every moment offered a profound emotional resonance that helped shape the creative spirit of this season. Collaborating with legendary photographer Steve McCurry, the journey transformed into more than a visual experience—it became a reflection of heritage, humanity, and craftsmanship, captured amidst the timeless aura of Khmer temples, dense jungles, and life-giving rivers.
Fashion as a narrative of culture
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection tells a vivid story of Cambodia through four essential elements: water, stone, nature, and life. The flowing Mekong River and the vast Tonlé Sap represent the rhythm of life—translated into serene shades of blue. The ancient grey stones of Angkor temples echo through structured silhouettes and tactile textures. Lush greenery, emblematic of the jungle’s resilience, becomes a canvas for garments, while the spiritual essence of Apsara dancers, Buddhist monks, and Khmer artistry inspire intricate, meaningful design.
Materials & Palette – Where tradition meets innovation
The color palette is a direct homage to the Cambodian landscape: earthy browns, jungle greens, temple greys, and Mekong blues, enriched by the vivid hues of Buddhist robes—saffron, rust, and orange-reds—each shade imbued with cultural significance.
Embodying the savoir-faire of Italian tailoring, the collection highlights natural materials like cotton, linen, and cotton-linen blends. Hero pieces include the Saharan jacket, field jackets, and 90s-inspired overshirts—designed for modern explorers seeking comfort and refined style.
A commitment to sustainability and legacy
Beyond design, Stefano Ricci affirms its dedication to environmental and cultural preservation. The project includes the planting of 5,000 trees to rehabilitate parts of the forest and promote biodiversity. Educational initiatives aim to empower local communities and preserve the Khmer cultural legacy for future generations. More than a destination, Cambodia serves as a spiritual mirror—a place where the brand’s ethos, “Explore the world to explore ourselves,” comes alive through purpose-driven fashion.
